signs of sunny spring days

Ahhh, I do love spring time in New England, although it has been rather hot and humid lately. With the first day of summer around the corner (June 21st!), I've been appreciating these signs of sunny spring days ...

snails out and about after a rainstorm

a bunch of beautiful hydrangeas in a cool mason jar left on my desk at work from an awesome coworker (I brought them home to enjoy over the weekend)

the incredible selection of flowers and plants at Ricky's Flower Market in Somerville (I bought one of the little sunflower plants for my green thumb husband)

a refreshing way to cool off during on hot days: a yummy cocktail at the Independent (this is a lovely Blueberry Dorchester made with blueberry vodka and cucumber lemonade ... de-lish!)

Enjoy the spring while you can ... before you know it, the heat of the summer will be here! :)

mark your calendar - may 2 + 3

Please mark you calendar to come by the Armory on Highland Avenue during the Somerville Open Studios on May 2 + 3. I will be there selling handmade greeting cards, small knitted items, and some sewing projects along with many talented local artists. The Armory is going to be one of the designated trolley stops along the map route (which is free by the way!), and is a new location for artists to show their wares this year. The only down side is that it was booked in advance for another event later in the evening on Sunday, so I will only be there from 12 to 2 pm that day.

But alas! The Design Hive Market is taking place on that Sunday (May 3) from 10 am to 5 pm at the Maria Baldwin School in Cambridge. So stop by the Armory from 12 to 2, and then head over there afterwards to check out the independent designers market from 2 to 5!

big and pink

Boston, in general, is known as a college town. It's the time of the year when people (mostly college students) move in and out of apartments around here. You can usually tell because of the surplus of moving vans and free furniture on sidewalks. Did you know that Somerville is the most densely populated city in New England and the fifth densest municipality under 100,000 in the United States?

Anyway, this huge, pink moving truck was right outside our apartment tonight for a long time. It's definitely the largest, pink moving truck I've ever seen.

By the way, there is a free couch on our sidewalk in case you're interested ...

santa & a doggy cookie

Ah, it's definitely time for the holidays. I know because I'm super busy. Too busy to update my blog(s)! Anyway, a couple of random photos. We were driving around on Sunday afternoon looking for a parking spot in Harvard Square and we saw Santa on a bike. See, even Santa's going green.
And then today on my way to work, I decided to stop by A Pet Spa on Somerville Avenue to get our Dad & Debbie's dog, Riley, a treat for Christmas. I've walked by there so many times and it's so cute because you can see the dogs being groomed through the windows. Anyway, they had this super cute doggy cookie that says "I {heart} Somerville" on it so I had to get one to send to Riley. I put it in a ziploc bag -- I hope my Dad realizes it's for Riley!
